Germany moves forward
German Chancellor Angela Merkel came to power, trying to elevate Germany's influence on the world political stage. The u.n. security council would have five permanent members, but germany now wants to be a permanent member, too. Merkel said that if germany could become a permanent member, germany would be willing to take on more international responsibility and they were fully prepared.
Germany has made many efforts to become a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. Germany is confident this time for a reason. Germany believes that there are some major powers that strongly advocate unilateralism, undermine the unity of the United Nations and make the United Nations a puppet. This country also refuses to assume the responsibility of the great powers, and Germany can do better than this big country when it becomes a permanent member.
The benefits
In addition to Germany, India, Brazil and Japan have always wanted to join the permanent members. Why are they so keen to join this international cooperation organization that has no right to interfere in their internal affairs? To become a permanent member, of course, has many advantages. The five permanent members can legally possess nuclear weapons, and many non-permanent members now have nuclear weapons.
But when it comes to permanent membership, it can be right without worrying all the time. Another advantage is that when it comes to permanent membership, it can exercise the veto, not often denied. The veto power of permanent members is permanent members is important. A resolution to be adopted by a United Nations, if one of them votes against, becomes useless.
