The first batch of American rice arrived in China

And Vietnam and other countries "face to face "! The first batch of American rice has arrived in China at a cost of only 2 yuan per catty

The United States has long wanted to export its own rice to China. After more than a decade of communication, China finally gave a green light to American rice in 2017, but because of changes in the international environment, American rice has been slow to lose successfully to China. At present, the United States is finally looking forward to this day —— the first batch of American rice has arrived in Xiamen, China and completed customs clearance.

The first batch of American rice will be sold in China at a cost of only about 2 yuan per catty?
According to the Global Times, as one of the world's four largest grain traders, ADM Asia Pacific President Liu Yuxiang said the first U.S. rice exported to China had arrived in Xiamen and cleared customs. According to reports, the first batch of rice imported to China came from California, ADM as a supplier has held several rice promotion meetings in Shenzhen, Shanghai and other major cities.
ADM will hold a small trial sale meeting with dealers for the first batch of American rice in the near future in order to accelerate its entry into the Chinese rice market. Liu Yuxiang pointed out that American rice will supplement the Chinese market and provide people with a more diversified taste choice. Once recognized by consumers, it is believed that it will sell well through trade.

Earlier, because the two countries' rice standards are different, the United States rice failed to meet the requirements for Chinese market exports, such as the United States did not set standards for rice cadmium, arsenic content, and both elements in China have standards. However, as the two sides agreed on the inspection and quarantine requirements for rice export to China, the problem was solved. In December 27,2018, China officially announced that it would allow American rice to be exported to China.
For ocean-going American rice, presumably, most people will feel strange, but also more curious about the price? It is understood that due to the influence of diverse ethnic groups in society, the United States market has a very large variety of rice, both in line with the Indian taste of slender grain rice, but also full-grain, taste like rice in northeast China.

As for the price, according to the USDA data in October, the export price of long grain finished rice in the United States is about $625 per ton (about 4135 yuan). Conversion, the cost per catty is about 2 yuan. Even if you consider adding intermediate links such as dealer price increases and logistics costs, the terminal retail price of rice in the United States is not expected to be too expensive.
Looking at 140 million tons of Chinese rice market, can the United States compete for Vietnamese rice?
It seems that the price of rice in the United States is even more competitive than some domestic rice, will this affect Chinese rice?
China is the world's largest producer and consumer of rice. According to US official estimates, China consumes 146 million tons of rice in 2020, but imports only 2.546 million tons of rice. In other words, Chinese rice mainly depends on self-sufficiency, and foreign rice is difficult to have a real impact on Chinese local rice. Moreover, the annual output of rice in the United States is about 7 million tons, and the quantity of exports is limited.

From this Sino-US trade war, our country can see clearly that key industries depend on themselves and can not rely on others.
